"From On Line to the Front" Line depicts the women of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated standing together in formation, dressed in red jackets and white skirts, holding red umbrellas, unified in sisterhood, purpose, and pride.

The title connects the tradition of being “on line” and crossing into Delta with the sorority’s historic commitment to advocacy and social action. Founded in 1913, the young women of Delta Sigma Theta participated in the Woman Suffrage Procession in Washington, D.C., just weeks after the sorority’s founding, an act recognized as their first public demonstration. They moved from building a sisterhood to standing on the front lines of change, advocating for women’s right to vote while navigating the realities of being Black women in America.

This piece celebrates the resilience, courage, and collective strength of those women and the generations who followed. What began with 22 founders has grown into a legacy of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action, with women continuing to stand together, advocate for their communities, and carry forward a tradition of purpose and pride.
